BIOGRAPHY
Kathleen Alcott is the author of the short story collection Emergency, as well as the novels America Was Hard to Find, Infinite Home and The Dangers of Proximal Alphabets. Their short fiction, criticism, memoir, and food writing have appeared in outlets including Harper’s, Zoetrope: All Story, The New York Times Magazine, The Guardian, Tin House, and ELLE. Their work has been anthologized in the Best American Short Stories of 2019 and The Best American Essays of 2024. in 2023 she received an O. Henry Prize. Alcott has also been nominated for the Mark Twain American Voice in Literature Award, the Joyce Carol Oates Prize, the Chautauqua Prize, and the Sunday Times Short Story Award. A fellow of MacDowell, she has taught at Columbia University and Bennington College.
